Understand booking fees and commission
Booking fees and commission are separate charges.
Understanding the difference makes it easier to set your ticket prices and predict your final payout.
Quicket commission
Commission is the percentage Quicket charges for providing the ticketing platform and related services.
Standard paid events in South Africa
2.4% ex VAT
per paid ticket
Quicket also publishes a commission rate of 2% ex VAT for qualifying NPOs and PBOs.
Commission is normally deducted from your event proceeds.
Booking fee
The booking fee is a fixed charge applied per ticket.
Current published booking fee
R7.50 per ticket
By default, the ticket buyer pays this fee.
Absorb the booking fee
If you don’t want the guest to pay the booking fee separately, you can choose to absorb it.
When absorbed, the booking fee is deducted from your event payout instead.
Example
Ticket price: R200
Booking fee: absorbed by organiser
The buyer sees the ticket price without the additional booking fee, while the applicable fee is included among the deductions from your event proceeds.
Are booking fees refundable?
Quicket’s organiser terms state that the booking fee is non-refundable, even when the ticket buyer receives a refund.
What’s next?
Review payment-processing costs, set your ticket prices and see how fees appear on your event statement.
