Using the Meta Pixel: What are Meta/Facebook Events?

Meta and Quicket refer to events entirely seperately and this can be confusing to someone new to marketing and using pixels. Quicket refers to events as the event that you are hosting and selling tickets to on our platform.

Facebook Events Manager (also known as Meta Events Manager) is a tool that allows businesses to track and manage interactions with their audience both on and off Facebook. It centralizes data from various sources, including websites (with a Facebook Pixel), Meta's platforms, apps (via Facebook SDK), and even offline data, allowing you to monitor specific actions (events) taken by your audience.

The data helps you understand user behavior, create targeted ad campaigns, and troubleshoot issues with data integrations like the Meta pixel and Conversions API.

Meta events are actions that people take on a website or app that are tracked by a Meta Pixel

Standard event:
These are predefined actions that Meta recognizes and supports across ad products. Examples include:
  1. Adding an item to a cart
  2. Adding payment information
  3. Initiating checkout
  4. Making a purchase
  5. Searching
  6. Viewing content

Custom events
These are actions that aren't covered by standard events. You can create custom events for specific purposes, such as capturing email form leads. You can assign a unique name to each custom event

How to use Facebook Events Manager: step-by-step

If you’re not using Events Manager yet, here’s a step-by-step process to set it up.

The main difference between the conversions API over a Meta pixel is:

  • Meta (Facebook) Pixel: Collect data from only one source—web events from websites—which limits data and affects audience targeting.
  • Conversions API: Collects data from multiple sources, including websites, Meta channels, CRM, offline, and third-party sources. More flexible and works even with privacy restrictions on third-party tracking. CURRENTLY NOT SUPPORTED BY QUICKET

Step 1: Complete the Events Manager setup

You can access Meta Events Manager via Meta Business Suite or Meta Business Manager (now called Meta Business Portfolio).

1. If you’re on the Meta Business Suite dashboard, click “All Tools,” then scroll down and click “Events Manager.”
