How do I create or edit an event for my Facebook Page?

To create an in-person event:
  1. In the top right of Facebook, click , then Event.
  2. Click In person.
  3. Add the event details.
  4. Tap Create Event.
Your event opens and you can share posts, invite guestsadd a cover photo and edit event details.
Note: Only Pages, not personal profiles, can create recurring events. Learn more about the difference between a Page and a profile.
Privacy
Bear in mind that you can't change an event's privacy after you've created the event.
There are four privacy options for events:
  • Private: Visible only to the people who are invited. You can choose to allow guests to invite their friends. People who are invited can see the event description, photos, posts and videos.
  • Public: Visible to anyone on or off Facebook. Anyone can see things like the event description, photos, posts and videos.
  • Friends: Visible only to your Facebook friends. Your friends can see the event description, photos, posts and videos.
  • Group: The group privacy setting determines who can see the event.
    • Public group: Visible to anyone on or off Facebook. Anyone can see things like the event description, photos, event discussion and videos.
    • Private group: Visible only to members of the group. Group members can see the event description, photos, posts and videos.
Allow guests to invite friends
If you're creating a private event and you'd like to let guests invite others, you can turn on Guests can invite friends. Letting guests invite means that they can invite others to the online event, including people you may not know or who are not Facebook or Messenger users.
Bear in mind that you cannot change this setting after you've created your event.
Event settings
You can click Event settings on the last step before creating your event. The options available depend on the privacy setting for the event.
Private and Friends
  • Co-hosts
  • Show guest list
Public
  • Co-hosts
  • Show guest list
  • Only hosts can post
  • Posts must be approved by host
Group
  • Co-hosts


To add a co-host:
  1. From your Newsfeed, click  Events in the left menu. You may have to click See more first.
  2. Below Your upcoming events, select the event, then click Edit.
  3. Below Additional details, click Event settings.
  4. Type a friend's name in the box and select them.
  5. Click Save, then click Update.
Note: When you add a friend as a co-host, they don't get a second invitation. Instead, they will automatically become an admin of the event if they RSVP as interested or going.

Edit an Event

To edit your Facebook event:
  1. From your Newsfeed, click  Events in the left menu. You may have to click See More first.
  2. Click Your Events, then click Hosting.
  3. Click the event, then click Edit.
  4. Make your changes and click Update.
Editing limits
What you can edit:
  • Event name
  • Date and time
  • Online event format (Facebook Live, Messenger Room, External Link or Other)
  • Event type (online or in-person)
  • Location of the event
  • Event description
  • Event cover photo
  • Guestlist visibility
  • Co-hosts
The event date and time can be changed up to a couple of days before the event.
What you can't edit:
  • Event privacy
  • Guests can invite friends setting
  • Ticket cost. Paid events are only available to Page accounts.
If you need to edit something that can't be changed, you'll need to cancel your event and make it again.
